Martin Garcia – Executive Chairman
With extensive knowledge of the markets we trade in, Martin has over 20 years of financial services experience and 16 years direct experience in the international health insurance market. He developed and managed a high profile IPMI specialist and has lived in Dubai, Hong Kong and the UK over the course of the last 15 years.

Steffen Gilbert – Group Chief Executive Officer
Steffen Gilbert is a more than 35-year insurance veteran with experience across multiple markets, including Africa and Asia. An actuary by profession, Steffen has a wealth of experience in actuarial and operational management positions as well as having been at the helm of leading insurance and reinsurance companies globally for the last 20 years.

Zahir Sharif International Health Insurance

Zahir Sharif - Managing Director - Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa
Zahir carries over 16 years experience in insurance across both developed and emerging markets. He has worked in 3 continents and with over 21 countries. General management responsibilities include full P&L, strategy, underwriting, risk management, contract negotiation, restructuring, acquisitions, distribution management and talent development. Zahir has proven track record in building businesses and driving profitable growth.

Alex Dalton – Managing Director - Europe
Alex Dalton has 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry in a variety of roles across the UK mortgage and insurance markets. He combines strong operational experience with a focus on delivering customer service strategies, process improvement and productivity gains.

Elizabet Narciandi - Managing Director, Americas
Elizabet Narciandi joined the Best Doctors Insurance family in 2010. In her position as Managing Director of our servicing company, Best Doctors Insurance Holding, she administers and directs the business facets, customer service, complaint processing, medical notifications management, quality control Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada. She has a degree in Computer Science and a Master’s degree in Management Information Systems from Florida International University, (FIU). She has a Microsoft professional certification and a Project Management Certification, from the Project Management Institute, (PMI).

Rob McIntyre - General Manager - Asia Pacific
Rob has many years of international health insurance experience in both Europe and Asia, and in particular Singapore. Coming from both a sales and technical background, Rob has a full understanding of the international health insurance market.

 

Sonja de Pattenden - General Manager - Middle East and Africa 
Sonja has more than 19 years of experience in international health insurance in the Middle East and Africa, and has been with Now Health International since the company launched in the UAE in 2011. Sonja's core expertise lies in business development and she is responsible for overseeing the region's strategic business plan.

David Capote - Americas VP of Sales and Marketing
David brings nearly 20 years of insurance experience to the Best Doctors Insurance family, in his position as Vice President of Sales and Marketing to our servicing company, Best Doctors Insurance Holdings. During this time, David has focused on various commercial development roles working with distribution channels throughout the LATAM region. He will be responsible for driving strategic business development in Latin America, Canada and the Caribbean. David began his career in 1997 with Amedex Insurance Company and then spent six years with Bupa International. He has spent the past five years with Pan-American Life Insurance Company as Vice President of Sales for International Major Medical products and was responsible for local individual health sales. During his career, David has also served on various board of directors positions in the USA and Latin America.

Paul Staines - Group CFO

With 17 years of CFO experience, Paul has considerable expertise in strategic and commercial planning. In his role as Group CFO he is responsible for overseeing the financial stability of the business and budget management. He has previously held senior financial roles with leading blue-chip media and insurance firms in the US and Latin America, including the Discovery Channel and most recently Bupa and the Ohio National Life Insurance Company. Paul holds an Economics degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and is fluent in three languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese.

Ronaldo Ramos - Group Actuary
Ronaldo has more than 15 years of healthcare and insurance experience, worked as Swiss Re’s Global Health Actuary, supporting the development of their health business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (US) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Alison Massey

Alison Massey - Group Marketing Director
Alison has over 20 years’ experience in financial services marketing and communications, the last 10 of which have been in the international health insurance field. A qualified, technical marketer, her core skill set lies in digital marketing and brand development.

 

Lauren Ellis - Group HR & Training Director
Lauren is a certified HR practioner and has gained generalist HR experience in service and aviation industries working with key international brands supporting large client groups. Lauren’s scope of HR expertise includes recruitment and selection, employee relations, talent and performance management , training and assessment, and compensation and benefits. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business, majoring in Human Resources and Economics, and is Training and Assessment (TAA) qualified. Working in senior strategic HR roles within service focused industries, Lauren has supported high volume business growth, utilising the full range of HR tools and business insights to enable business leaders to achieve and ensuring efficient HR programs and a sustainable talent pipeline. Lauren joined the business in 2014 and is accountable for all facets of HR operations and people and talent development.

Harinder Brad International Health Insurance

Harinder Brad - Legal Director
A UK qualified lawyer with 15 years of legal experience with 7 years in private practice in the UK and for the past 8 years in-house as a Senior/General Counsel for a large multinational Swiss Insurance Company in their UK, Singapore and Middle East offices. With extensive legal and regulatory experience within the insurance, financial services, and regulatory sectors. Has advised on large cross jurisdictional global projects, M&A deals, litigation & investigations, compliance and dealing with Regulatory Authorities around the world. A solution driven lawyer with particular strength in providing innovative strategic solutions both in a legal and commercial context.

 

Sarah Clarke - Operations Director
Sarah has held senior operational roles at numerous financial service and insurance businesses, with extensive experience working across multiple markets, including Europe, the Middle-East and Asia-Pacific. Her main area of expertise is in driving operational efficiencies while maintaining the highest standards of customer service.
