To support Breast Cancer Awareness month this October, the Now Health International Hong Kong team hosted a number of fundraising activities in aid of local charity, the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation (HKBCF).
At Now Health International, health and well-being is central to what we do, which is why our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme focuses on tackling the major health issues concerning the communities in which we operate.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, and the number of people diagnosed with breast cancer in Hong Kong has tripled over the past 20 years (1993-2015). The HKBCF is a non-profit which works to mitigate the threat of breast cancer through education, patient support, research and advocacy, so it seemed a natural fit for our team to support this worthy charity during Breast Cancer Awareness month.
On Friday 19 October the Hong Kong team hosted a bake sale in the office, selling a variety of pink themed cupcakes, brownies and treats, with all proceeds from the sale going to the HKBCF. On Sunday 21 October, members of staff also took part in the HKBCF’s Annual Pink Walk to raise awareness of the importance of breast health. Participants dressed in pink and walked 3.5km around Hong Kong Island’s tallest peak, Victoria Peak, enjoying stunning views over the bustling city.
In total the Hong Kong team raised HKD 2,600 (more than USD 300) for this important cause.
